Aloe gorgeous!
This is the modern version of Ortho Derma's original
Aloe Vera protective moisturiser
and skin cell food
formulated in 1983!
This new Hyaluronic Acid formulation
is just fab because it's the lazy person's one-step moisturiser, for when
you don't have time to layer!
The light emulsion includes all
of your favourite goodies - natural Aloe Vera gel, best Australian Emu Oil and precious essential oils.
It's also packed with generous
doses of non-acidic Vitamin C (Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate (MAP) 6%),
mixed isomer Vitamin
E and
Tocotrienols for collagen support, antioxidant
action and UV protection*. The unique mix of Green, Rooibos
and Vita Teas provide additional UV protection* and cell
support.
(*The precise SPF has not been measured,
so don't rely on Face The Day to render you sun-proof! However, at least
six ingredients
have reputed UV protection properties.)
Ingredients:
Aloe Vera gel, highest quality Australian Emu Oil, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate
(non-acidic Vitamin C), organic Sesame Oil, organic Borage Oil, soy lecithin, mixed Tocopherols
(vitamin E in natural alpha, beta, delta & gamma forms), mixed Tocotrienols (alpha, beta, delta & gamma forms),
Co-enzyme Q10 (naturally fermented Japanese trans isomer), Ascorbyl Palmitate (oil
soluble Vitamin C), Hyaluronic Acid, Ylang Ylang Essential Oil,
Plantaserve
Smarter than your average
Emu
We
love this one!! And not just because it reminds us of a great
song by Celine Dion and the Bee Gees*. There's just something magical about
its glow-producing effects. Yes, that's glowy, not greasy.
Plus it's very
similar to natural human skin sebum, so it really feels right!
Emutality is made from select
Australian Emu Oil, and will not clog pores or cause breakouts.
In fact, Emu Oil has anti-inflammatory and bacteriostatic properties,
supporting a super-healthy skin barrier.
Research also shows that Emu Oil
naturally thickens skin and promotes dramatic turns in hair follicle
activity. "Hair follicles?!", you ask, "Why should
I care?" Well, skin repair is actually mediated by cells in your hair
follicles, so it's critical that you take care of them! Make friends with
your follicles!
Like most Orthoderma products Emutality
is packed full of
the very highest quality complementary nutrients, including a generous dose of CoQ10 - the naturally fermented trans
variety - and mixed isomer Vitamin E. So your skin gets moisture, an antioxidant
and vitamin fix, and gets to look and feel really great!
Emu Oil is also a mild
natural UV filter,
though its precise SPF has
not been measured so don't rely on Emutality to render you totally sun-proof.
However, at least four
ingredients have UV protection properties.
(*'Immortality' - in case you didn’t get it. Fabulous song!)
Ingredients: Quality Australian Emu Oil (90+%), organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, organic Sesame Oil, organic
Borage Oil (for GLA), soy lecithin, mixed Tocopherols (vitamin E in natural alpha,
beta, delta & gamma forms), mixed Tocotrienols (natural alpha, beta, delta &
gamma forms), Co-enzyme Q10 (naturally fermented Japanese trans isomer), Mysore
Sandalwood Essential Oil, Ylang Ylang essential oil, Ascorbyl Palmitate (oil soluble
Vitamin C), Plantaserve
Simply Emu
What? "Emu…table?" Emus, and tables… What
are we going on about?
It's a play on the word "Immutable",
meaning "changeless", "eternal", “immortal” – pronounced "imm-YOU-tuh-bul".
All that you really you need to know
is that it’s an absolutely lovely, highest quality Australian Emu Oil.
It’s pure Emu Oil, so is the right moisturiser to choose if you prefer
to keep things really simple and don’t wish to stink of the fancy Essential Oils
in Emutality (above).
Yes, that’s right – Emutable
is the one that’s just pure Emu Oil, while Emutality is mostly
Emu Oil but has lots of whizz-bang extras, including select Essential
Oils that make it smell a bit (but very nice, we think). You’ll get most of
the same radiance, skin glow and other Emu Oil benefits from Emutable,
but without the hippy aroma.
Although we say “pure”, we’ve added
a dash of natural mixed Tocopherols and Tocotrienols, because they
are just too excellent at supporting your skin from an anti-oxidant point
of view. We didn’t want you to miss out on that!
Emutable contains ultra high quality laboratory certified 'food grade'
Emu Oil. It has been carefully processed so as to preserve the full
spectrum of Emu Oil’s natural properties.
Ingredients: Quality Australian Emu Oil (98.5%), mixed Tocopherols (vitamin E in natural alpha, beta,
delta & gamma forms), mixed Tocotrienols (natural alpha, beta, delta & gamma
forms), Plantaserve (trace)
A rose by any other name...is
a confused rose
A delicious, intensive wrinkle minimising Organic Rosehip Oil.
This is a product which everyone
seems to love! It's excellent for smoothing rough skin, minimising scarring
and reducing the appearance of sun-induced wrinkles.
It contains naturally occurring
trans Retinoic Acid, or Tretinoin - the same ingredient in products
like Retin A, Retinova and Retacnyl that require a prescription.
This is a very mild, natural version that works slowly and gently, so you'll have
none of the irritation
that prescription cosmeceuticals produce - quite the opposite.
Rosebuddy is wonderfully moisturising
for skin that's been irritated by the elements or chemicals. Rosehip Oil
is well researched and proven to improve the appearance of sun damaged skin,
even long after the damage was done! It seems to magically turn back the clock.
It also has great evidence for scar
minimisation such as post-surgical scars. It's very soothing too, so it's the
best choice for immediately after skin peels or other harsh treatments.
Important: Rosebuddy contains
the lovely thick, orange-red, organic Rosehip Oil that's so hard to
find! Yes, we scoured the planet for you for this one! We just hate the cheap
and nasty, thin, pale or colourless stuff that passes for 'Rosehip Oil' in less
elite establishments! None of that here!
Did you know...?
-
Contrary to popular belief, Rosehip
Oil does not contain Vitamin C! Only Rosehip fruits do.
-
There was once a rumour around that Rosehip Oil
encourages pimples, but it's tough to find
a real person who says this is true. In fact, most people say it seems to help prevent
them. We suspect
that this rumour originated
from someone using an icky chemical ‘cream’ with a dash of low grade Rosehip Oil
in it, rather than an exquisite example of pure Rosehippyness like Rosebuddy.
Ingredients:
Organic cold-pressed highest quality Rosehip Oil (97%), organic Sesame Oil, mixed
Tocopherols (vitamin E in natural alpha, beta, delta & gamma forms), mixed Tocotrienols
(alpha, beta, delta & gamma forms), Plantaserve, Ylang Ylang essential oil (trace)
Bleph you my child
Eye zone heaven.
Why "Bleph"? It's the technical term for "eyelid", and short for Blepharoplasty, a common cosmetic procedure
for wrinkled or saggy eye skin.
We think that surgery will in many
cases be unnecessary if you start using Bleph Bliss early enough, to protect
and support your skin.
It's absolutely packed with concentrated
goodies, including 6% MAP (non-acidic Vitamin C) and Ascorbyl Palmitate (oil-soluble
Vitamin C). It plumps, smooths, protects and nourishes your eye area
in a totally natural way.
We recommended
Bleph Bliss
for use by itself, or over serums and moisturisers.
It's an 'all-in-one' emulsion - a serum/moisturiser combination
- and includes some sun protection ingredients such as a generous dollop of Zinc
Oxide. However we haven't measured the SPF so you might want to use
a sunscreen as well (if you don't mind the chemicals
grrrrr....)
Ingredients:
Aloe Vera gel, highest quality Australian Emu oil, organic Sesame Oil, organic Borage
Oil, Zinc Oxide, soy lecithin, CoQ10 (naturally fermented Japanese trans isomer),
Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate (non-acidic Vitamin C), mixed Tocopherols (vitamin
E in natural alpha, beta, delta & gamma forms), mixed Tocotrienols (alpha, beta,
delta & gamma forms), Hyaluronic Acid, Ascorbyl Palmitate (oil soluble Vitamin
C), Plantaserve
Absolutely lipliscious
Yummy organic Shea Butter and
organic Coconut Oil. It smells a bit like vanilla chocolate - we don't
know why, but we don't care. We just love it.
Lip Lover is an all edible
lip moisturiser, so you won't end up like a one-woman toxic waste dump if you
swallow some occasionally. You can even fry your fishing catch in it if you want
to, should you find yourself out in the wild without your olive oil.
Both Shea Butter and Coconut Oil
offer UV protection, as do the full spectrum mixed-isomer Vitamin E and the
huge wad of oil soluble Vitamin C we've plopped in it. It's fantastic
under lip liner or lipstick for plump, smooth, glowy lips.
Have you noticed that many so called
lip salves eventually make your lips drier? Soon enough you're a crazed addict, grappling in your pockets
every hour or so, desperate for your next fix. Well, Lip Lover
will not do this. It will just make your lips moist, happy, delicious and kissable*,
or your money back.
(*In the event
of any dispute we may have to kiss you for verification of your claim. This
is part of our research and quality control, and has nothing to do with the fact
that our customers are so good-looking. Honest.)
Ingredients:
Organic cold-pressed unprocessed Ghananese Shea Butter, organic cold-pressed Maldivian
Coconut Oil, best Australian Emu Oil, soy lecithin, Ascorbyl Palmitate (oil soluble
Vitamin C), mixed Tocopherols (vitamin E in natural alpha, beta, delta & gamma
forms), Stevia extract (natural herbal sweetener)
Organic Rosewater
Finisher
Clean, silky skin
Yum! This is
for cleaning up excess moisturiser or serum residues, leaving only wonderfully
soft, clean, smooth and moist skin!
Its scent is a light,
subtle, fresh Rose. Just beautiful – and it’s organic, of course!
Use it as a final
wipe-over after your serums and moisturisers have soaked in, or just splash it on
by itself on a ‘no products' day, for subtly moist, silky, clean-feeling skin.

Rosewater
Myth Buster:
Skin Moisturisers
Widespread misunderstanding about skin moisturisation
Most mainstream commercial 'moisturisers' are, chemically speaking, no such thing.
They actually contain detergents which break down the natural oil on your
skin, force chemical hydrators into it, and/or leave film-forming agents on top
of it. These chemicals damage your skin barrier instead of supporting it,
which not only feels unpleasant to wear but lays the foundation for breakouts.
What's worse, in your skin's attempt to save itself (and your body) from the chemical
onslaught, it produces more oil to try to keep the chemicals out!
Hence you will notice an extra oily T-zone when using many chemical 'moisturisers',
even when they claim to be 'oil free'. This is perhaps
the biggest clue that the products you are using are not formulated correctly.
In fact, at Orthoderma we believe that 'oil free' is a particularly bad case of
marketing hype. ‘Oil-free’ is actually the problem, not the solution!
Counter-intuitive as it may at first seem, by using the correct natural oils
on your skin you should find that your skin starts to produce less oil over
time, and your T-zone becomes more balanced. Try it. We believe that you
will never look back.
You should definitely try it if your current moisturiser produces any of
these unpleasant side-effects:
-
A slimy film on your skin surface
-
Your makeup slips off after a few hours
-
In hot weather your skin feels wet. You may have to wipe beads of sweat off
your chin, top lip or forehead.
-
You are losing your looks over time, despite religious 'moisturising'
-
When you don't use the product your skin looks and feels dry or tight. You
are almost 'addicted' to it
-
It makes your skin break out
If any of the above are true for you, chances are that the product label will reveal
a long list of chemical names of substances which are found nowhere in nature.
If the ingredients are not even listed, well that’s even worse.
The good news is that all of this is unnecessary. If you moisturise
as nature intended, using
bio-compatible natural oils
and serums, we believe that you will be very pleasantly
surprised at the degree to which your skin can transform over time.
Remember, a child's skin has natural water holding capacity; human sebum (skin oil)
keeps it moist and smooth without any artificial help. This is the effect
that you should be aiming for when moisturising and feeding your skin.
In short, your skin condition should improve over time with use of
a product, not degrade.
